Video clips about donating sperm

For many people, starting a family is an integral part of their life plan. For some couples, however, the path to having a child is more difficult than for others – and the reasons for this are many and varied. One of them can be a limited fertility of the male partner. For intended parents, donor sperm treatment offers the opportunity to experience pregnancy together and build a bond with the child from the very beginning.

On 01.07.2018, the Sperm Donor Registry Law came into force. This law protects sperm donors from legal consequences, while strengthening the rights of the people who are the result of a sperm donation.

This covers the following:

  • Sperm donors cannot be identified as legal fathers and therefore cannot be required to pay child support.
  • Sperm donors cannot remain anonymous, data of donors and donor children are stored in an official register (DIMDI).
  • Persons who have been conceived through donor sperm have the right, upon reaching the age of 16, to request information about their own genetic ancestry and the identity of their biological father.
  • Intended parents are not informed of the donor’s identity.
