About us

Intro

Sometimes things don’t work out the natural way
to start a family of their own.

This may be due to the man’s infertility, living in a same-sex partnership or the desire to have children as a single woman. Fertilization with donor sperm cells shows you another way to fulfill your wish for a child of your own.

Dr. Andreas Hammel

The concept of the Erlanger Samenbank was develop by Dr. Hammel, with the aim of offering assistance to patients wishing to freeze their sperm and to couples and single women desiring to have children of their own. The Erlanger Samenbank has established the highest quality of reliable methods and procedures to achieve these goals.

Dr. Hammel established the Erlanger’s notary model, which served as a model for the sperm donor register that was later introduced nationwide. In terms of professional policy, he is a member of the board of the working group Donogenic Insemination e.V. and founded the German Registry for Insemination within this framework.

Safety and transparency for patients, sperm donors and donor children is the top priority of the Erlanger Samenbank: from personal information to the careful selection of suitable donors and data security for all those involved.

Our standards

Transparency and integrity

We attach great importance to providing legally, medically and ethically sound advice.

The Erlanger Samenbank ensures compliance with the highest quality standards. From laboratory equipment to donor selection, infection screening, freezing and storage of sperm samples, we guarantee flawless work and state-of-the-art technology.

Legal basis

The Erlanger Samenbank is guided by the Sperm Donor Register Act, current German legislation, the EU guidelines on reproductive medicine and the guidelines of the Working Group for Donor Assisted Insemination. This ensures that the interests of all persons involved in donor sperm treatment are always protected.

Outstanding quality

In March 2009, the Erlanger Samenbank was the first sperm bank in Germany to be granted a manufacturing license for sperm samples in accordance with §§ 20 b and c of the German Drug Law (AMG) following a strict official examination. It goes without saying that we have established a quality management system and are certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001: 2015.

Donor selection process: Always individual

We provide intended parents with personalized lists of potential donors with their personal characteristics. These include, for example, blood group, eye and hair color. Intended parents therefore have a say and select the most suitable donor themselves.
