Donor Children

Every person has the right to be informed about his or her origins. However, how parents deal with the fact that their child was born from a donor is individual, as is the child’s reaction.

Rebekka did not learn about her origins until she was 10 years old. She wants to know who her biological father is. She is not interested in financial claims, but in people. In addition, Rebekka is a member of the “Spenderkinder e.V.” association, which fights for the rights of donor children. Listen to the interview with journalist Hilde Weeg.

Unlike Rebekka, Paul grew up knowing about his origins. His parents talked about donor sperm as a matter of course when he was a toddler. For Paul, it was always clear: Erich is his father. “Biology was never relevant,” explains the 19-year-old in an interview with journalist Hilde Weeg.
